Join us for our March UPA meeting on Wednesday 3/21/2012, co-sponsored by the RU Chapter of the American Society for Information Science & Technology (RU ASIS&T)! We are very fortunate to have Tomer Sharon from Google NYC join us to talk about UX research and his new book, It’s Our Research. His job title there is “Search UX Researcher” and he describes his job as “to provide insights into product users, their perspectives, and their abilities to the right people at the right time”. The topic of Tomer’s presentation is described below.

Winning that Elusive Buy-in for UX Research Projects

UX practitioners, researchers, and leaders need to engage people, teams, and organizations with research results to inform design, prioritize development, shape product roadmaps, and sometimes even initiate company-wide changes of focus. Many of them experience frustration and isolation because they are sometimes required to deal with difficult people who don’t understand or respect the UX process. Tomer will showcase seven stories and lessons he has learned from his many years of experience and how to overcome challenges of people and situations and highlight what works and what doesn’t.

We will host this meeting over on the College Ave campus at the Pane Room in the Alexander Library, next to the School of Communication and Information. The address is 169 College Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.

Meeting outline:
